A Committeeperson performs the grassroots efforts needed in their district to assist Democratic candidates in getting elected to public office.
County Committee people become acquainted with their district voters and build credibility with their neighbors by being knowledgeable about political issues. They contact the democratic voters in their district to introduce themselves. They make sure Democrats in their neighborhood are registered to vote and provide them with voter registration cards if they are not currently registered and absentee ballots if they are unable to get to the polls on election day.
The Committee person persuades voters to vote for Democrats. For example, they distribute campaign literature, discuss current political issues and obtain lawn sign locations. They attend Committee meetings, help with events, and work with the Democratic Party to Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) on Election Day.
