Chrissy Buteas and Franky Salerno: Honest Service From A New Generation With Labor Day upon us, the Democratic team of Chrissy Buteas and Franky Salerno unveiled their campaign slogan: “Honest Service from a New Generation.” Chrissy Buteas explained the reasoning behind the slogan, “Obviously Franky and I are young. He is 25 and I am 26. We know that our generation has a responsibility to serve just as the generations that came before us. It is only because of those patriots who risked their lives from Bunker Hill to Bagdad that we are privileged to live in this great country of ours. It is an honor to have as my running mate someone who has already carried on that tradition of service to country. When our country was attacked on 9-11 Franky Salerno was a senior in South Plainfield High School. Within weeks he enlisted in the Navy. He served in Iraq for over a year. In this day and age when sometimes people question the determination and focus of young people, Franky Salerno proves that our generation cares about America and freedom. Franky hasn’t stopped serving. He is a member of our Planning Board, coaches Pop Warner and is a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Italian American Club. When Franky Salerno becomes a member of the Borough Council, our residents will not have to worry about special interests. He has only one interest in mind…to honestly serve the public to the best of his ability.” Franky Salerno returned the compliment to his running mate saying “Chrissy Buteas is one of the most intelligent and hard working people I have ever known. She graduated college Summa Cum Laude and obtained her Masters Degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University with the distinction of Phi Alpha Alpha (That means highest honors). Chrissy was an outstanding field hockey goalie at both South Plainfield High and in college. In fact her college team was the NCAA Division III Champion. At the ripe old age of 26 she has been named a fellow at Leadership New Jersey which is one of the most prestigious organizations in the nation. She also is the President of the Middlesex County Women’s Political Caucus of New Jersey and has served on the South Plainfield Board of Adjustment. She is a member of the Recreation Commission and Public Celebrations Committee. I couldn’t be more proud than to run with someone as outstanding as Chrissy Buteas. She combines the intelligence and work ethic necessary to bring about positive results for the residents of our great town. I can honestly say that our residents will be well served if they elect Chrissy Buteas to the Borough Council.” Both Chrissy Buteas and Franky Salerno commented that they look forward to the upcoming campaign and a discussion of the issues facing the borough.
